The Turkish gendarmerie received President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Ottoman attire in Ankara, on the occasion of the 178th anniversary of its founding during the Ottoman Caliphate.
After the reception, the gendarmerie played the music of the “Argerel Resurrection” series in front of Erdogan, in a gesture that was the first of its kind.
On the occasion of the 87th anniversary of the establishment of the Turkish gendarmerie, the Turkish president praised the efforts of the Turkish government to fight terrorist organizations that seek to target Turkey’s security and stability.
“Emergency authorities have only been used against terrorist organizations since July 15, and no citizen’s lives have been affected,” he said.
The Turkish gendarmerie is a branch of the Turkish armed forces and is responsible for maintaining public order in areas outside the purview of the police force.
